       huh, amazingly, if I unplug the hub's external power supply after the modem is plugged in, it does not reset... and does notice it has insufficient power!So if I want to power the hub, it doesn't need to be powered through the UPS... except for a cold start, in which I'd have to be present on-site anyway

       @novenary smh... if they had better granularity, the hub could probably ask for sth more like 50mA, the UPS would ask for 1mA (just to detect VBUS), and there would be whopping 449mA left for the modem...

       @novenarymaybe the USB-to-serial chip is powered from the bus and only connected to the rest of the UPS through an optocoupler? :P

       @wolf480pl hmm, if you have enough free usb ports on the hub, maybe use a Y usb cable to connect the LTE ? That way it may draw current from both usb port... I had to do that a few months ago for a Teltonika TRM250, worked like a charm since I plugged it using that, was working for 10 mintues and continuously rebooting before...

       @aslnah, this is not about actual power draw (it's not triggering overcurrent on a port), it's about declared power draw (host won't activate a configuration because that configuration requests too much power).I found a workaround - see other replies

       @novenary hmm ok so- my UPS is bus-powered and asks for 100mA, just like yours- the LTE modem is bus-powered and asks for 500mA
