       If we want to improve Glasgow's economic situation, we don't necessarily need new buildings, we need to make the most of the ones we already have. This photo from Argyle Street in the city centre sums up this all-to-often overlooked issue.        As a result, all too many buildings are economically under-active as they may only be bringing in half or a quarter, or less, of the business rates they could if fully occupied.        How can this issue be solved? I have no easy solutions to offer, but it's one we really need to address. To do this, we need to work out how big a problem this is (and so how much money is being lost to the city as a result), why it has happened, and what we can to encourage more use of empty upper floors across the city, whether for commercial purposes or for residential ones.#glasgow #architecture #builtheritage
