       One look at the main circuit board at 12:45 tells you why late 1980s to mid 1990s camcorders are bound for extinction -- there's even more capacitors on the back of the board, and a few had completely corroded themselves off the board and fallen out even before he began disassembling it. No, you don't have a "battery bomb" like Macs of the era, but the capacitor situation is ten times worse.        @vwestlife Fun fact - pretty much all CRT viewfinders were black and white. The only colour CRT viewfinders I'm aware of were on a Hitachi-made RCA CKC-021 camera that uses an indextron design (mid 80s), and the Mitsubishi HS-CX6 that used a field sequential colour-wheel on their TrueFinder system (early 90s).Cathode Ray Dude did a video about the CKC-021. I have one, but unfortunately the colour circuitry needs work so the image has a sepia hue.
