       Playing around with outputting SECAM on a raspberry pi and I was surprised my workbench TV displayed it. I know it supports NTSC and PAL, but for some reason I thought SECAM didn't work. It doesn't look great - lots of red and blue fringing on details, but the colours are present and accurate.The multi-system support isn't listed in the manual, nor does it show on the on-screen display. Wild that they just silently threw in a feature like that. Good job, Philips.

       I wanted to verify that this signal is indeed SECAM, so I dragged out my multi-standard VCR, and yup! VCR display says SECAM. I also found some random Russian tapes with MESECAM recordings on them, which also played fine on the TV. From my understanding, MESECAM was just SECAM colour that was converted to be recorded/played back using PAL VCR hardware.And it turns out, my capture card supports SECAM just fine as well (though the DVD recorder I use as a TBC does not.

       @vwestlife @themaritimegirl I remember the McDonald's here used a different shaped POS in the early 2000s (I don't remember seeing a brand on it), but it ran the same touchscreen software in DOS. It was running a Pentium MMX, complete with the energy star logo at POST.

       @vwestlife Fun fact - pretty much all CRT viewfinders were black and white. The only colour CRT viewfinders I'm aware of were on a Hitachi-made RCA CKC-021 camera that uses an indextron design (mid 80s), and the Mitsubishi HS-CX6 that used a field sequential colour-wheel on their TrueFinder system (early 90s).Cathode Ray Dude did a video about the CKC-021. I have one, but unfortunately the colour circuitry needs work so the image has a sepia hue.
