       I was trying to put together a summary of why #AI code s banned from FuzixHaving thought about it a bit I realised it can be put several ways but it really already been said by Marx (and Engels), and to be fair also the same basic beliefs in many other groups:"The workers should own the means of production"LLM #AI, aside from all the stolen content and environmental damage is not owned by the workers. It's no different to depending upon an proprietary compiler someone can take away.

       @asie i’ve been playing with fuzix earlier this week on my picocalc, the port is slightly broken (patches imminent..) but i was positively surprised at how readable the code is and how logical the general structure looksnothing but props for @etchedpixels :)

       @etchedpixels By that logic, locally-ran "AI" would be fine. It's not though, slop is slop regardless of who owns the means of slop production. It's not something society needs.

       @ariarhythmic you do not own the means of production because you have some binary on your computer whether it's an LLM or a compiler. It's just an opaque unmaintainable blob. A local LLM would need to be something you could train and build yourself

       @etchedpixels Even then, it's still an LLM, LLMs aren't just bad because they're developed by corporations, the premise of a generative text to text model is inherently useless at best, actively antisocial at worst.

       @ariarhythmicI have multiple reasons why I think AI is bad, and they may not be the same as your reasons, but one of them is:Humans are bad at many things like being consistent, remembering things exactly, doing repetitive work without mistakes, etc.We've invented many things - from writing to mathematical proofs to computers - that complement the human mind in those areas, leaving humans to do the parts of work that require more creativity and improvisation. 1/@etchedpixels
