       Oh shit the in-line volume controls are intercepted so you change the hardware volume instead of software volume, handy. Not required but a good touch, you can change volume via the buttons on the dongle itself.

       @Jes i have a extremely specific use case for that, the audio output on my steam deck seems to vary wildly in volume so having onboard volume adjustment is super helpful so i can not delete my eardrums or have completely inaudible sounds oh and in case your wondering why don’t i just use the volume buttons on my deck? the audio is nearly unusably quiet below halfway up the bar and then it jumps way up in volume and is consistent from there upwards so i can’t just press volume down because even once causes it to get ~60% quieter i love valves QC :blobfoxheartcute:

       @Jes oh and also it seems like the aux jack isn’t grounded properly as there’s a constant hissing noise that gets worse the more you stress the APU so that’s out of the picture too and for whichever reason the bluetooth *sucks* and has at least 1/10th a second of latency

       @SeaDonut that honestly doesn't surprise me. Other than apple there's not only single computer company that can make a proper headphone jack that is actually usable.

       @SeaDonut sound blaster play 4, surprisingly good, do keep in mind that you may have to fiddle with it a bit to get it working, there's a compatibility mode you can enter if it gives you trouble, I remember having issues in the past with it, I think it had something to do with using a splitter

       @Jes see, that’s the thing, the audio jacks on my other stuff like my switch 2, and lenovo laptop works perfectly.. the deck is honestly the first computer i’ve owned that i actually had anything to complain about for the audio jack

       @SeaDonut mostly because I use in ear monitors that are very sensitive to interference along with foam ear plug tips that kill a lot of background noise, I can tell the difference between dongles based on the amount of background hiss, the creative and the apple dongles are the only 100% silent ones, all dongles will go to sleep after a second or two, but on my phone if I have auto play turned on in YouTube and let a video auto play in the feed, it'll activate the headphones telling me how noisy the connection is. I can also cheat it by turning the hardware volume to 100% and setting the phone volume to 1 and still zero noise floor.

       @SeaDonut the jack in my desktop practically sounds like a white noise machine even considering the motherboard has a custom audio chip that's supposed to be better, it's still just as noisy as they usually are.

       @SeaDonut I can't say it's 100% silent since these earbuds aren't as sensitive as something like shure buds, but if I can't hear a noise floor on any of my wired buds then headphones will be just fine.

       @SeaDonut I will note that on my Mac and PC the volume does actually control the software, but not on android, where android largely ignores hardware volume and assumes it's at 100% and lowers in software. A stupid way to do it if you ask me since many DACs have hardware volume control and the noise floor changes based on hardware volume level

       @Jes honestly just used a 2 dollar usbc to 3.5 adapter i found on amazon, works fine when im not using my headphones with the wireless wired adapter thingy (i have a second pair of headphones that i don’t use much because their ear cups are super shallow and they’re barely over ears)

       @SeaDonut I just love that every TRRS headphone extension cable is built wrong and causes the mic to not be usable, the entire reason why someone would buy a TRRS cable instead of a TRS cable in the first place :mikuthumb: /sarcasmThe only way I was able to bypass this was to grab the few adapters and extensions that did work (one of them is an audio technica 2x TRS to TRRS and a vmoda boom pro bundled adapter that converts TRRS to 2xTRS) without severe buzzing and create some monster of a cable. The monster cable is chunky and weighs over a pound on it's own
