       I've been thinking about the (short) stories I sometimes write myself (which don't get advertised anywhere, so they are not affected by the context described in the blog post), which mostly don't contain explicit descriptions of sex acts.I asked myself why my own stories often skip over the "actual sex", or end before it happens, but with the implication that it will...🤔 I guess I often just don't find actual sex acts very interesting to write?

       What happens before it is much more exciting for me, I can be a lot more creative with that. My stories (that have mostly never been read by anyone except me and a few friends) are not about people having sex, they are about people being horny and teasing each other... it's just that the context of "the sex will actually happen at some point" is important to know for the mood of the story.

       ... in that moment. And the actual content of the fantasy is mostly symbolic.I'm still learning how much that applies to my own real life tbh... I've often been confused by not knowing how much I'm supposed to take other people's words at face value, and by others taking mine too literally when they were meant in a symbolic way, or vice versa.

       But one thing makes me more likely to agree with the blog post again: The inconsistency might be realistic... but are erotic stories actually supposed to be realistic? Or are they depictions of the fantasies that people might have in their horny mind when they are in a scenario that starts out the same way as the story does... and thus are supposed to disregard the inconsistency of people's desires and actions in real life?

       I think there should be both kinds of erotic stories, so people can have realistic fantasies (the media we consume has a lot of influence on our worldview after all) as well as symbolic ones (just because they're fun to read, and to feel less alone if one has had similar symbolic fantasies). But it would probably be useful to indicate more clearly which kind of story something is, to avoid false expectations.

       Another thought that I had while reading the blog post, is that one kind of "unfulfilled promises" described in there just sounds very realistic to me:The characters thinking and talking about which wild things they want to do... and then not actually doing them when they first get the chance. I can relate to that a lot... for me, thinking/speaking about those fantasies is meant mostly as a way to convey how horny someone is...
