       @aeva they really are, imo the epitome of the lute family. when i was growing up my dad built two mandolins and played them somewhat regularly. hearing that sound in comparison to guitar really blew my mind and stuck with me

       @astraleureka mandolin was my dad's main instrument when i was growing up.  i started playing it some years ago, and he built a really nice one for me with some help from a friend of his more recently.  i didn't get very far into learning it the first time around, but I've taken another crack at it this year and i think it's going better this time
