       it occurs to me that i have never built anything that requires an emergency self-destruct capability.this invokes a whole set of odd feelings: relief, wistfulness, envy

       @wingo I used to have an emergency nuke button on my desktop that would immediately shred some LUKS headers and then forcefully reboot. I thought long and hard about physical destruction but eventually came to the conclusion that I couldn't really justify explosives inside my desktopthankfully I never actually had a need to actually press the panic button

       @astraleureka @wingo and most of the kinds of physical destruction that are effective enough countermeasures to modern methods are decidedly spicy

       @froztbyte @wingo also typically not available to underage youth, or at least not in the 2000s. who knows what the kids can get their hands on these days 😌
