@Humpleupagus @white_male well, they do want to force all the vessels transiting trough the strait to pay them for "insurance", they're the only people who threaten the shipping there and they shoot at ships that choose not to go trough their side of the strait but trough Omani waters, so.... If that's not a classic protection racket, then I don't know what is.

@ThatCrazyDude @white_male People like to over simplify things, truth of the matter I haven't seen any European nation not also infiltrated and controlled by Mossad, but it's always easy to point at the stick in someone else's eye than to remove the one in your own.The truth of the matter is we have a situation far more precarious and dangerous than most realize.First the nuclear element, Iran is heavily dependent upon desalinization and dead dinosaurs only going to carry them so far, so long term nuclear is central to their survival, but nuclear power production does not require 60%+ enrichment. So I got to wonder whatcha all think of a mushroom cloud going off in your region?Second you've got the religious element, Jews think they are God's chosen but they are rather arrogant about what they think they are chosen for, in their minds to enslave and control the world. Don't know about you but that's not acceptable to me.And then Iran, Shi'a Islam also believes they are God's children but their view is that their mission is to bring on Armageddon, eliminate the those who don't believe as they, so if that's what you want let it go unabated. Combine these two major religious perversions and it's clear massive conflict is inevitable, and with the US military we are best equipped to get in the way of this agenda so naturally we're the great devil.All that said, if this were the only agenda we would have mounted a rapid surprise attack to take out air defense and then landed a massive ground assault, retrieved the enriched uranium, and left. We didn't do that, which suggests other motivations which I think can be spelled out with three letters, "oil".So my take the US didn't address is properly, efficiently, or in a way that would have minimized harm to civilians, the Europeans didn't address it at all, now being what it is, I don't know the solution but I suspect name calling isn't it.

I'm old enough to remember when every year there was a story about the Dow Jones taking a hit because of a few days of snow. The US economy is stretched too thin to survive a protracted war without full martial law. Europe is worse due to immigration and weak social will. Cannibalism would occur.

I think you're confusing civil law with diplomatic relations. They are not the same thing. If you can occupy / possess the thing, or cause enough trouble that no one else can with stability, then you control the thing. That is sovereignty. There are no rights. There's only diplomacy or war. Sometimes you have to make nice with enemies. Trump and Israel seemed to have missed this point entirely and thought that they could control an entire culture with sporadic violence, instead they got a hard lesson is diplomacy and occupation.Why would Iran allow enemy states to get fuel without a cost when those states just end up bombing them again? Iran is the most rational actor in the room.
