       @SuperSnekFriend @hfaust You know I'm starting to think Linux will never have a proper future as a primary OS so long as anyone has to think about the outright war that goes on the second anyone mentions X11 or Wayland, or really anything else that goes on with Linux when it comes to differences in setup. :thonk: This isn't even a "maybe if you can't learn basic terminal commands it's for the best you aren't here" kind of situation, this situation is annoying everyone and nobody is accomplishing anything, even an experienced computer user will get tired and either just go with whatever is default or switch back to Windows. The fact someone can have an issue, ask about it, and get told "should've used X11 instead" or "Wayland doesn't have that issue" is kinda funny but utterly damning for anyone who wants to use the OS as an actual OS. And this applies to far more than just the argument between X11 and Wayland, this is an issue spanning really most of Linux as a whole. The fact a user can get set up and use a distro for months and then later get told that he chose the wrong distro when asking for help with a problem is just depressing. And I'll be honest, I've never had a single Wayland issue whatsoever despite using it for quite a while now as the main thing for whenever I use linux. The one annoyance I've had is ironically enough a feature from X11 that will likely never be replaced in Wayland (xcursor is utter trash). Eh, whatever, it's not like any of this actually matters to me, I've long since given up on thinking Linux will actually be the future of anything more than servers or computers used by devoted hobbyists. :cirno_shrug: Just a thought in my mind.
