       Just reading on my night shift break that Juno Download has abruptly shut down with little explanation, a few days after Nina Protocol announced it was packing up and going home due to a lack of revenue. The landscape of music marketplaces is becoming increasingly bloody. #music

       @MaxCorp There's stormy days ahead for the whole music ecosystem. But there was a time when 78rpm discs faded away due to radio, which then got kicked by the LP album, which has hung in there as a high cost high end icon ... there's going to be changes forever and you can't get too attached when the 'future' keeps on raining down ... #music

       Yes, and I think we're in a similar period of transition - my current malaise is affected by the fact I'm spending a little bit more time with people who are putting out stuff through Bandcamp alternatives like Mirlo, Unstream, Faircamp, Bandwagon, Jamcoop... it's a long, overwhelming list, and some of them will endure better than others, I think.

       @lardmotel Mirlo is pretty good but I think it will be a challenge to stop human nature intervening and growing the service to the point it then gets bought out in 15 years a la Bandcamp.That said, Bandcamp is still my main go-to because I like the breadth of stuff on there - Mirlo is a village, and I can find genuine independent stuff I'd never find in the crowded space of BC, but then I like how you can get something from Warp or Nettwerk right next to the DIY artists. One size fits all.

       @MaxCorp I’m a bit wary of villages. I would like to explore the many different cultures and perhaps not just the local dialect.
