       And most software runs fine even on old ddr3 builds. And anything 9th gen and after will run just about anything you can throw at it. We may become the Cuba of computers, but it's hardly the end.

       I still have core2duos that run linux fine. I had to throw ssds in, but even with sata2, they're still pretty snappy.Besides, the day of the cyberpunk has been predicted since at least the H/P/A days. Us old timers expected it. The real issue will be code / repo access, and not so much hardware imo.

       Me either. The only reason I had to throw ssds in the duos was to saturate that sata bus for max speed since the spin drives are slow af. The old drives still ran fine though.

       I have lost data before due to corruption, and even had a path truncated in one instance, but I've never had a drive itself fail.

       However, CRT monitors, I've had a handful of those just decide to crap out - which is funny because they're also supposed to be solid state. I guess high voltage is bad for longevity...

       I do OC my studio rig, but with OC, the pump / radiator is likely to fail long before any drive.

       Oh, I should probably note that I always ran my CRTs at the highest resolution that looked good - with no respect for the resolutions listed on the label. So that might have had something to do with it lol

       Water cooled my last home server, what a pain in the ass, never again. Regular 4u tower and big ass-coolers from China work great.

       I have an i9-9980XE I run at 4.5ghz. It's the last good chip intel made for audio processing. The modern power / efficiency core paradigm has been a real shitshow in that specific use case.

       My main usecase is `make -j$(nproc)` so more slower cores usually is just fine
