       What the actual fuck.This is why I never, ever console someone with "you did your best", because I've always felt like "doing your best" was kind of an abusive concept.

       Sometimes things like this come from literal-mindedness, but they tend to emerge when someone has been taught not to have boundaries & that their needs are completely unimportant.Some people will assume "doing your best" means making every single possible effort because we are not always believed when we "do our best" as in making a reasonable effort.
