RE: https://dice.camp/@artemis/116640742755920377The most frustrating piece of this is that it appears that all responses from Nothing are AI, & it seems quite unlikely that his request/complaint has reached any human at all or that it ever will.I think the claim that his phone was a "beta test" is either a full-on hallucination or they have other devices that are in beta, & the chatbot can't distinguish which is which & is falsely denying his warranty on that grounds.#NothingPhone #NothingPhone3ART: https://dice.camp/users/artemis/statuses/116640742755920377

It makes me wonder how many companies have switched totally to AI for their customer service & are (mostly) unaware that their customers are getting pissed off about being lied to & getting told to fuck off.Perhaps the AI summarizes customer feedback/service requests/complaints to whoever is in charge of service. It's possible that no human *ever* interacts with their customer requests except through the filter of the AI bot. That may be far too generous though.#NothingPhone #NothingPhone3A

That may be far too generous, because if *I* didn't want to fulfill the warranties on products I sold (or do anything at all for customers), I would certainly choose to outsource to AI.I'm not going to give Nothing the "benefit of the doubt" here because AI customer service is not what you would do if you cared for your customers.Still, I do wonder how many companies don't know that their customer base is being decimated by AI "customer service".#NothingPhone

Do companies which employ AI for "customer service" do any kind of quality control or do they just trust in the machine? If they attempt quality control of customer service interactions, do they do this by having a human review them, or do they just ask the AI to summarize how good of a job it's doing?

"Have a chatbot do your customer service! That way you'll never know how angry your customers are or how much you are ripping them off."The refusal to honor the warranty & the (as far as we can tell) baseless claim that this phone was a beta test is fucking fraudulent. But Nothing doesn't have to know that. They don't have to hear it, & a lawyer would cost us significantly more than replacing the phone does.#NothingPhone

Anyway, I told Spouse I'd get on Fedi & bitch about it, because Fedi is where a substantial chunk of Nothing Phone's potential customer base hangs out online. Thanks for listening, Fedi. Hope you have better luck with your warrantied products!

Searching online for customer service complaints against Nothing Technology reveals that the fact they use AI for customer service is probably the only reason my spouse got any responses. Many people who wrote reviews a couple years ago state that they never got any response *at all* when contacting customer service no matter what they tried. After Spouse asked to speak with a human, the responses stopped, so that's cool.#NothingPhone#NothingTechnology #AICustomerService

I guess this is a reminder to search "[company name] customer service" before purchasing from a company.
