       Two broken plastic tabs on dishwasher. To fix: $320 in parts. Sigh, trying hard to avoid the sunk cost fallacy, but I like keeping the old girl working. When an appliance otherwise does its job well, I don't want to risk buying a newer, even cheaper model.

       Last appliance I bought new was a dehumidifier (to replace an 25+ year old Kenmore tank whose replacement humidstat was unavailable). The new dehumidifier lasted a couple years.

       I know my Dad wouldn't buy the parts. He'd probably MacGyver this damned thing with some steel angle that he kept in a cutoff milk jug in the garage.
