@Terry repeating myself but… there are great big land-tanks and tanker ships across the world. synthetic motor oil is made (mostly) from syngas, which is extracted from lignite (coal).gasoline can be priced and the supply limited to minimise car use. vehicles will undergo less wear reducing demand for motor fluids. if diesel price gets a series of small, quarterly price increases, then motor transport can be dramatically reduced without financial crisis. it would provoke less production and movement of all goods. less freight will require less motor fluids.
