       @zrb @q66 Yeah, also glad Gentoo did pretty early on, and that a lot of other projects are adopting one.Sad part is there seems to be a gigantic split between slop-tainted, and no-ai policy / incoming no-ai policy.

       @lanodan @q66 also uh... "use xdm" for uh a display manager? the initial vt var/setting does nothing, and afaik start() is broken (no arguments to the daemon at all) (better yet would be to not define custom start)

       @mirth @q66 X11 is the choice of "conservatives".Sadly also people who need the accessability features that are still missing on wayland. So it's part those that we need sto support to the best of our abilities and and part those that can go play in a burning house.

       @TheOneDoc @q66 Yes. I think fixing X11 must have been untenable, at least those most familiar seem to think so, but we must make Wayland work for accessibility. It's not a problem set I understand very well.

       @mirth @q66 the thing with X11 is it was intended to run on Graphical Terminals and not as the UI of a powerful single user computer. So there is a lot of overhead when you use it for the later. Almost all that makes X11 even useable these days are more or less nasty hacks and the code base is to ,put it mildly, byzantian. No one* wants to work on it and no code refracturing in the world can overcome the design decisions that have been made when X11 was designed initially.*besides some right wing snow flakes with their little fork.
