       Mercedes Benz claims they invented the automobile.        @tomjennings Yeah at best they're the first that *commercialised* it, which is a completely different kind of thing from having invented it.

       @tomjennings Thanks for forwarding it.Also browsed through it quickly looking at the ads most of which for repair/dealer shops, and haven't found a mention of Benz, possible France just had way too many of it's own cars by 1905 but still pretty weird.Specially when George Richard as a brand is mentioned quite few times, while modern internet seems to agree on George Richard having been inspired or been using Benz designs at least for it's first vehicle.And found at least one mention of Mercédès (sic on the diacritics).While Panhard, Mors, Renault, Peugeot, De Dion seem in the most popular.
