there any email services that allow for aliases? i think proton mail does that but iirc they limit it to a couple dozen maybe. any others you prefer out there?might need to ditch my gmail with these microsoft one time passcode attempts. probably getting hacked :S

@greyknight I think Proton aliasas are effectively infinite. I know I've made dozens, at least. I also have a domain pointing at Proton's mail servers that I can prepend whatever I want in front of the @ and it gets forwarded appropriately.

@greyknight Yah... I remember when introductory domain registrations were less than $10/year. GANDI got bought, dropped the "No Bullshit" company motto, and jacked up their rates, so I've been slowly moving all my domains to Hover as they get close to expiry.

@greyknight there are ways to backup email and mirror dns records if picking up a domain depending on need and service level you can choose a method and provider.

@scottdhansen i'm going to go with buying my own domain then picking up a good email service provider, either fastmail or protonmail as it stands. i like knowing what people use and any neat ideas that aren't in normie practice. my gmail is long overdue to be deprecated

@greyknight it all sounds decent to me. If your domain takes off / picks up traffic you may want to look into beefing things up … more than likely all is good.

@greyknight Proton Mail does, if you pay for for a decent plan, you can use their alias service as much as you like and you can send an email from the alias if needed (though I always have to lookup how to)

@sir_rob they? as for gmail, i'm thinking of dumping that association. i've a ton of accounts using my gmail account. figure i could start purging them and move over only those that i care about. the rest are garbage. change pws so if an old pw is out there, they can have access to the trash.really, i'm between which service to pick up. hoping to avoid google anything (maybe i'll make google@greyknight.com a link to a different gmail account for google crap)

@black6 @greyknight I interacted with hover the other day. It's a pretty simple UI, doesn't seem o offer all the extra, and unneeded, services. I can see why Steve would like it.
