FactorioOverview(1/4): A very interesting sandbox game where you’re an engineer who crashes on an alien planet with the objective of launching a rocket (though he doesn’t mount it, just launches, i guess for shits and gigs). To do this, you must mine resources and develop more advanced products to build research packs that allow you to unlock the rocket silo and win (though you can stay and keep expanding til your heart’s content). You quickly learn that this is near...#greyknightgames

Overview(2/4): impossible without heavy automation. So build some drills, belts, robots, factories, etc. To get the millions of products needed to even unlock the rocket. Its heavy on production management and, given the vast resources, less so on resource management. Basically all production and logistics. The map is HUGE, damn near endless so the job seems like a cake walk except for one major hurdle, the local fauna hate pollution and they want to smash your factory...#greyknightgames

Overview(3/4): So, along with getting to your rocket, you need big, bad ass guns and turrets to repel the continuous attacks. The bugs evolve and get stronger so you need to keep your firepower up and, since the map is huge and resources are spaced out, you need to automate supplies lest you get run over. I found the pest control a little tedious but still fun as a means to unlock expansion. The logistics planning is really engaging and micromanagement is bascially...#greyknightgames

Overiew(4/4): non-existent. This makes the game very enjoyable. The more you automate, the less you micromanage, fantastic feedback loop. Although there is the goal of launching a rocket, the game doesn’t end there as there’s other techs that really ramp up at this level, namely the atomic missile. I won’t spoil any more but all in all, fantastic game and I’m just echoing the same that the community feels about it. I will be buying this with all DLC.#greyknightgames

Gameplay(1/2): A top down view much like SimCity (but not on a 45 degree angle) where your character is smack in the middle so, to scroll around, you walk/drive around, except in Map View. Craft some goods/factories and plop them down whilst ensuring they are being fed supplies else they sit idle. You can craft or have the machines to it for you. Unless you want to play for a million hours, you MUST do the latter. It’s all about logistics and is completely open world...#greyknightgames

Gameplay(2/2): When your factory gets very large, you really need to plan well. I found tapping into online resources became a must given the tutorials in the game are quick lackluster. Plus strategies to make an effective factory require some outside help. One really neat feature is blueprints so you can perfect one aspect and save the blueprint for easy reconstruction. Its meant to share online and seems to be quite the community.#greyknightgames

Music: Like most games of this genre, its ok. Sounds are cute to hear the first time but become jsut background noise/ambience as you hear them more. About a quarter through my playthrough, i just turned off the sound. The experience really didn’t change. So, this is something you could slap on a laptop and play anywhere without headphones and still not miss anything.#greyknightgames

Graphics: It’s pretty close to SimCity 2/3000. Nothing fancy at all but I found the graphics is not what the game is about. Its the open world, logistics conundrum along with figuring out how to make those damn bugs not a worry.Gripes: Only 1. I’d love to have a graph that shows potential demand overall. Sometimes you get into some tough supply chain breakdowns and its tough to close the gap. A little extra sight would help.#greyknightgames

Conclusion: 5/5! I’ve a ton of other games so I’ll be parking this one but left installed to mess around a bit more here and there. I’ll likely start a new playthrough on a new map (there are different types to try, island is next for me). I found myself planning my factory even when not playing. Highly recommend this one!#greyknightgames
