       Today we learned two things: people do indeed buy climbing ropes from Aliexpress and abseil on them. And also that that's way more expensive than just buying reputable rope lmao

       @azonenberg yeah lmao there's tons but tbh given the prices it's probably fairly legit for the climbing thickness stuff. The sketchy stuff is prolly more in the carabiners. There's of course also a decent amount of legit stuff but it's just not meaningfully cheaper. Tons of ascenders and descenders though like an absolutely ridiculous number and variety of designs it's crazy. Lots of figure eights too

       @Lunaphied i do actually own a 6 inch amazon climbing webbing sling.But i bought it as a keychain lanyard figuring even a crap counterfeit climbing sling would last longer than my last one

       @azonenberg the thing that I wonder is what about the scene in China means they don't have any other type of belay devices. Like I assume it's all rope access so belay isn't usually in the picture but it's weird to see absolutely no clones of the western semi-autos. I want to buy some of it to test while on backup out of curiosity but I also don't really want to reward the sellers
