       @dosnostalgic Epson is a good option. I had no problems finding a new ribbon for my RX-80 from the 1980s. I think these things are still being used for some purposes to this day. There are even still official Windows drivers for those ancient machines on the Epson website.

       @dosnostalgic Looks like you can still get some Panasonic KX-P ribbons and Epson still sells dot matrix printers, so probably any of those are good. Personally I just got a new ribbon for my ImageWriter II that works great, but I wouldn’t recommend it as I just had to replace a power module on mine (apparently they tend to cook themselves).

       @dosnostalgic Panasonic KX-P series and Epson LQ series still have strong support from ribbon suppliers, and the machines themselves are extremely resilient for heavy duty work.the real challenge is finding affordable tractor feed paper.

       @dosnostalgic Oki (formerly OKI Data) Microline dot matrix printers are still in production and are used in many government agencies that access NCIC and their state's equivalent service, for their reliability and, believe it or not, the unique sound pattern they make when printing out a HIT request (warrant search request that has to be responded to within minutes) from the TTY. As soon as the printer head makes that "daaa da da daaa daaa, da da daaa da da daaaaaa" sound you know you need to be in your warrant database ready to look it up.Source: I was a GCIC terminal operator and TAC officer for a large portion of my adult life before switching careers to IT. I sometimes still hear that dot matrix pattern in my sleep.
