A curiosity I stumbled upon today: news of the first BBC play to be broadcast on television, in July 1930. The production was "The Man With the Flower in His Mouth" by Pirandello, starring Val Gielgud (brother of Sir John). This was before the BBC started making its own programs, and just months after the first TV broadcasts began. At this time BBC television was broadcast for only 30 minutes in the morning and for another 30 minutes at midnight.

In the end the cast of three was, according to John Logie Baird's recollection, Earle Grey as 'The Man', Gladys Young as 'The Woman' and Lionel Millard as 'The Customer'.
