       There's been no public reporting of which I'm aware on the WHCD interloper's motive. He might well have been targeting the president, but it's also possible he was after any of the hundreds of other government officials, members of the press, or celebrities in attendance. So calling this a presidential assassination attempt is premature.

       @mattblaze I would be very surprised if it turned out to be anything else.Trying to assassinate $OTHER_PERSON in front of the president and secret service seems like a recipe for failure. Why wouldn't you go after them at a time/place with less security when there's not a massive VIP protection detail right there?

       @azonenberg I have no idea. why would you try to assassinate the president at a heavily controlled event with limited entrances? Anyone doing this, no matter the target, is very likely to be stopped.
