       hiya! are u interested in working on an identity federation protocol and standard instant-messaging API so we can make a:- reasonably federated- user-first- extensible- fastdiscord-like chat application?then maybe you'd be interested in polyproto.org !!! :3no complex DAG or state-resolution, building on tried-and-tested standards (like x.509 for ID-Certificates), while deviating a bit from other similar projects which we felt didn't quite fit what we were trying to do.also on fedi at @polyproto !

       @lumi @polyproto We do not want to "overdo" it with federation; i.e, introduce a complex state-resolution system and DAG just to be able to say "we replicate state everywhere!". Basically, we don't want to be matrix.Before looking at technical solutions, we look at actual needs and how to best achieve them while leaving people in control. Not a theoretical technical utopia.

       @lumi @polyproto For instance, when looking at said chat-app-API, we won't go the matrix route and instead go like "for communities, it's probably better to connect to that community directly and post to it directly"

       @gianmarcogg03 @polyproto No, they are considering it. I am the one who brought them the idea of collaborating with us in the first place.I am a core of the org and who pushed hard in the federation channel for them to consider it :)Unless, of course, they finally decided that this would be what they wanna work on but...haven't reached out.
