       cannot overemphasize how much more I would appreciate SR-IOV over some fucking "tensor/AI" or even ray tracing cores (although I do like ray tracing)

       @aud IIRC (last time I checked) even datacenter-grade NVidia GPUs can only do SR-IOV gpu slicing when you pay nv a subscription?I have workstation-grade A2000/A4000s which work great when passed into a VM but you can't share them IIRC. :(

       @flaki @aud I had to switch to AMD GPU because Nvidia explicitly banned even passthrough on their consumer GPUs (which could be worked around by patching the drivers to remove the check "deny GPU usage if we're in a VM"), but these patches were really unstable and often breaking)....on the other hand, it's not like AMD is perfect either... https://github.com/inga-lovinde/RadeonResetBugFix
