       @protonprivacy it is a shift, and a really bad one. Sort of a silver lining here is that more people will consider privacy respecting solutions, like GOs, Linux on desktop, and who knows, may be Linux phones finally gain some traction

       @protonprivacy I am concerned about those proposals that require a centralization of intellectual property and identity. Because governments are not well known for keeping those kinds of things secure or preventing them from being misused. Even the distributed solutions that only have the machine reporting the age group of the user account is problematic. Because then the machine becomes a beacon telling all of the predators that here is a potential victim. That may be security for the web portals, but it's certainly NOT security for the children! I get the feeling that the people who write these prospective laws never asked any independent security personnel. (The likelihood is that every one of those proposals was written by a lobbyist with a vested interest.) they seem to take the security onus from the web service site and put it in the wind. Making a change that does away with any sense of security whatsoever.

       @protonprivacy - that’s trusting corporations (and governments) not using that information - including your likeness - for purposes after / other than its one-time intended use.There may have been a time when we were a whole lot more trusting - but this isn’t it.

       Parents should be the ones protecting their kids, instead of the big brother the state. But that considering that is the legitimate reason for states to usurp parents' duties.

       @protonprivacy How about phone had parental controls to tell websites child is using it, not me requiring to prove I'm an adult sending my photos and ID scans to some incompetent dumbass companies that ALWAYS get hacked and expose our information. This is such idiotic concept it is wild.This wasn't designed to protect children, this was designed to mass collect user information.
