@mwl I've said a lot over the years, any praise directed at scumbags will come back to haunt you. They got something right on issue X? They will use your praise as a weapon against you on other things that matter.

@fatsam Hard screaming agree.The most I'll say positive about these folks is "nobody is entirely wrong, but so-and-so is wrong enough to be an ass." Then direct conversation as needed to not be an ass myself.

@troublewithwords @fatsam "Separate art from the artist" is a postmodern literary analysis technique for folks working on lit postgrad degrees, e.g., "How does our analysis change if we disregard that the author is an asshole?"It was never meant for routine use by regular folks.But the assholes popularized it, for obvious reasons.

@fatsam @mwl Any praise you accept from scumbags will haunt you too. (Had to fight in the 00s to get a couple of author blurbs my editor had fought for dropped from my books, because I didn't think my target audience would be filled with enthusiasm by praise from S M Stirling and Orson Scott Card.)
