       coding is an art formthere is a lot of intent involved in writing code, many small creative decisions that have to be made. this also applies to the design of a larger system, there are many many creative degrees of freedomllms regurgitating it therefore is equally as offensive as it regurgitating writing, or a diffusion model regurgitating arthence, genai must be loudly opposed wherever possible. we must not let it rot our communities even more

       @sel yup, exactly. all this intent is losteven in the case where the code works, it's just completely soullessi know i keep saying this, but i want a more human world. i want to see the human touches on everything. i want to be a part of communities and i want genuine connections with peoplestripping the humanity off something is one of the most offensive things someone can do

       @lumi I've learned a ton about coding and computers by just being curious about how things work or why they are why they are, and I'm scared of the future where curiosity is pointless because the answer always seems "idk, it's just what the ai shat out".Even if ai had a "reason" for it, if a human didn't make that decision, I don't really care

       @lumi@snug.moe a lot of things are an art form.cooking is an art form. drawing is an art form. making music is an art form. and many other things...people make art out of passion. they want to create. not because anyone else told them to. not because of other things. they do it because they like doing it.ai just takes all of these away. it just spits out (not even good) "art". it makes art because it's forced to. it just "creates" for the sake of "creating".

       @lumi@snug.moe im writing Scheme DSLs from time to time, and each time i end up with syntax which looks less weird (at least to me) than solutions which already exist (or... to be correct, they mostly exist for common lisp and dont work in Scheme at all xD).AI would just mix syntaces of existing DSLs, or just straigtly give some existing syntax without mods even. And to force it create something unique i'd have to basically invent syntax myself lol
