Your RSS reader doesn’t (necessarily) have an algorithm. By default, you’ll get everything as it appears, in reverse-chronological order.Does that remind you of anything? Right: this is how social media used to work, before it was enshittified.RSS basically works like social media should work.Using RSS is a chance to visit a utopian future in which the platforms have no power, and all power is vested in publishers, who get to decide what to publish.............https://doctorow.medium.com/you-should-be-using-an-rss-reader-76aed31151f9

@foufoutos imo ActivityPub is just the evolution of RSS. by adding human boosts, instead of having to subscribe to all the feeds we've enjoyed in the past, we can decide who to trust to forward us the best stuff. and collectively, this means the public could decide what deserves the most attention in the public consciousness.yes, most important is that the platforms have no power, but AP lets us share it with the community beyond just publishers.
