@rasur I caught up with SPK Graeme in Germany and we had a decent chat about all sorts of things. One thing to understand is the fires in LA wiped out his home and all his history. So he has a blank slate and has taken up current technology as a new start.Heās also collaborating with his son and they are I think trying to recall the film scores he has made (and lost) via AI video. Disclaimer: I am also using AI to help model 3D from sketches! #music

@lardmotel @rasur Aaaah, interesting that you crossed paths again after all these years. I did not know that those LA fires wiped out so much his things.FWIW, I have grabbed a live recording of a recent show he did with his son as SchizoPhreniK, in Northern Italy according to the info file.

Well that adds some perspective to it, sure, although re disclaimer, if itās that kind of img->model stuff Iāve bleated in the past, then itās different to the gpt/llm->diffusion video pipeline heās apparently using there. Shit I even use āAIāā¢ļø audio if we keep to abusing ourselves with the marketing terms. But he has my sympathies on the loss of works & desire to somehow get it back, at least. Still think the song & vid sucked tho š¤«

@rasur AI doesnāt really add much worth in music, by which I mean if you have no great inspiration itās not going to provide it. The moment you define a āstyleā itās all overā¦ more xerox. I always get more from arguing with people. The argument ends up in an uncomfortable hybridā¦ the rough bits rub off and then comes a useful annoying tangent.

@jakobw @lardmotel Tom clearly held in v.high regard by both Graeme & Cevin. That note aside, it was interesting to note the depth of GR's interest in AI/ML. He seemed to have a decent attitude towards it (from the point of view of an outsider artist).didn't realise he'd done so many films though. Busy fella! ;)

@rasur @jakobw he didnāt make the visuals back in the day, being the composer. I guess AI is helpful in visuals but the learning curve is odd - progress seems fast until you pause and take stock - the whole is āwrongā in overview and needs critique. Thatās where I am at the moment - itās good but somehow all āsoapyā - like a mass produced toy.Because I make āgamesā itās passable. In film it still needs years of training in real world production. #musicproduction #ai

@rasur @jakobw The seances are partly to do with the Pacific in that we are on the other side of the globe to where the missiles are flying. And the 14 hour flight ages us. And a torrent of internet pours down from the north - why not up from the south?The north takes it for granted that we will pay half our income to come to you. All of this will eventually cause resentment and experimentation. #musicproduction

@lardmotel @rasur Sure, but my point was the similarity, viz. a band that is effectively dead can be brought out through a seance, or, in the case of Revell & Son, in the form of a spectre. (Come to think of it, in essence Kraftwerk have been doing that for at least 20 years, but never conceptualized it as such. Difference being in their case itās a zombie flick rather than a ghost flick.)

@jakobw @rasur Yes thatās acclimatisation to changes in music culture - and the world at large. Canāt fly anywhere right now, USA charges $x000 on VISAs and if you do play itās all old men and their memories. My next local paid gig is talking about (ooo rare!) vinyl records at a visual art museum. Which I will sabotage. So my blog is now āHaunTikiā which I guess sums it up - the ghost of a ghost of Polynesian culture. #music
