       @stux As a rule, social media is staffers’ responsibility; most politicians only know of the more popular social networks via word of mouth, and rarely post for themselves.Staffers have a high turnover rate, so any vaguely obscure medium quickly becomes institutionally forgotten.(It does vary, but these are good rules of thumb. I used to do media for politicians, back in the day.)

       @stux It's the old tale of "when a measure becomes a goal, it stops being a good meausre." Big tech has shiny counters where numbers go up (but numbers don't mean what they pretend to mean), here on Mastodon it all feels a lot more eerie.Then again, it's also a fact that there's a big group of people that doesn't want to put in the effort it takes to build a network on fediverse. That doesn't help with convincing politicians to stay here ofcourse...
