       @stux It's the old tale of "when a measure becomes a goal, it stops being a good meausre." Big tech has shiny counters where numbers go up (but numbers don't mean what they pretend to mean), here on Mastodon it all feels a lot more eerie.Then again, it's also a fact that there's a big group of people that doesn't want to put in the effort it takes to build a network on fediverse. That doesn't help with convincing politicians to stay here ofcourse...

       @jeffcliff I hope you do understand the difference between learning and downloading content for the purpose of building deep neural networks with transformers aimed at creating derived works for commercial purposes. You don't have to call it theft if that rubs your sensitive soul the wrong way. It is what it is, and comparing that with being part of a bittorrent swarm is ridiculous. As you know.

       @jeffcliff I reckon you're not a native English speaker, but "learning" using your brain cells and "training a neural network" are not the same thing. The "neural" in NN is not refering to actual neurons. BTW: if I learn a song by heart and I play a derived work in public, I have to pay for the rights to use it. Not when I sing it in my own home I don't. Surprising you have strong opinions yet no sense of nuance.

Ever read the licenses of the organisation he founded?You know what the NC stand for? The SA?
