Hey folks! Is there anyone here who has experience with resyncing subtitles and could recommend software to help me do that that runs on a Linux system?Thanks 💜Edit: it's not just about setting the speed factor and offset, I've done that dozens of times but the issue here is more complicated than that and what I need is a tool to help me analyze and fix it.

mpv and mplayer have controls that let you speed up and slow down thesync speed * of the subtitles as the show is playing.It is mentally challenging for me, but it works.(for some reason I can't reason about if speeding themup makes them come faster or slower.)* I don't know what to call that specifically.

The full story is: there is that German 2010 movie about lesbian vampires, We Are the Night (or Wir sind die Nacht in German) that a visiting LARP acquaintance showed me in... I think it was 2021. It's a bit cheesy (it is a movie about lesbian vampires, after all, some amount of cheesiness is expected) and the ending is absolute shit (mostly because it's not lesbian enough), but besides that the image is quite beautiful and some scenes are rather touching and I have a good memory of it overall. We watched it in German with English subtitles, it was nice, and then I forgot about it for a while.A few months later, I remembered that movie and tried to get it in my library, but I could only find some German versions, most not subtitled at all, some with German subtitles. And I can't read or understand enough German for those to be of use. I could eventually find some English subs, but they are very off sync, in a manner that does not look easy to fix (it's just not an offset and a speed factor).Since then, I've been looking for a way to either find better subtitles or a version of the movie that comes with good English subtitles. A few weeks ago, I saw a bluray on sale that I thought came with English subtitles, but it arrived today and alas, no, it's only German again.So now I'm quite resigned that the only way I'll get to watch and enjoy my slightly cheesy, not lesbian enough lesbian vampire movie is by resyncing those subtitles myself, and while my PS4 is ripping the bluray, I'm looking for solutions for that.(No idea if those off sync subtitles are a fan translation or if there is actually a commercial version of the movie with English subtitles somewhere. If you happen to know of one, I'm interested.)

you can also press ctrl shift left/right arrow to sync the next/prev subtitle with the audio as youre watching.
