Chat, what's the best/cheapest way of measuring the brewing temperature in a portafilter machine?

@Hothrin Multimeter + thermocouple, clamping the wire against the gasket? It probably won't seal and ruin the shot, but maybe the temp reading is accurate enough?

@Hothrin I'm kinda assuming you want to measure it once, if you want to measure it for data collection we're probably in drill, tap, threaded temp probe with sealant territory.

@nadia@raru.re Tho I do wonder how just measuring the outside of the portafilter with a infrared thermometer would go... it'd sure be colder than the inside, so we kinda lack the info how much colder it is

@Hothrin Hm… if you do that *and* the filthy termocouple once, you could measure that difference which hopefully would be consistent? Altho maybe the error margin is big enough that the simple approach of measuring the water stream without portafilter is just easier and equally accurate
