       I'm thinking of installing linux on my laptop. What distro and DE do people recommend nowadays? I'm a somewhat knowledgeable user but don't wanna spend a long time configuring and tinkering with stuff. I'm thinking Mint with Cinnamon because that's what I last used but it's been quite a few years so I don't know if there's better options

       I have been given a date for my initial consultation with a surgeon in London next month (January). Travel costs for me and my partner are going to be around £250. I feel really bad about doing this but if you can spare anything I would really appreciate the support. I have paid for the train tickets using a credit card so I'm not desperate for the money but anything at all would help make things a bit easier.        you know what's revolutionary about mastodon (at least the instances I use) - and it really shouldn't be this rare - but it's one of the only sites i can think of, the only that i use regularly where there's no little number next to my uBlock Origin icon showing how many page elements have been blocked. this is how the web should be
