Momentan ist AP das einzige "Ökosystem", das eine breite Anzahl von Servern, Clients und Nutzer*innen in seinem Bereich hat (abgsehen vielleicht von RSS). Wir haben doch schon sowas wie die Ansätze eines Netzwerkeffekts am Laufen.Und wenn sich jemand jetzt oder in 10 Jahren ein viel besseres, viel eleganteres Protokoll ausdenken sollte, gibt es doch keinen Grund, wieso es nicht zu Mastodon kompatibel sein sollte

@trwnh If I register 200 UUIDs per second for a year, that's 100TB.Storing it indefinitely costs a *lot* of money.If I put something like 09f9 in there, the part with "never lapsing" and "under my own authority" is going to be questioned fast by governments

@rgb Honestly, i don't think your idea is *that* bad. It would probably look and work a lot better than what we see in most modern browsers.Performance-wise, it should work fine. None of my screenshots are over 2 MiB and that's less than what a lot of modern websites requre.You could use Tab to navigate and afaik image maps can even have alt tags
