If this article about "Gen Z" finding office technology difficult and confusing is true then we may have a problem.https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2023/feb/27/gen-z-tech-shame-office-technology-printersOn the easy side it looks like a mix of lack of familiarity and being afraid to ask questions because they think they'll get mocked for it.I see it as easy because that's easier to fix than the alternative - lacking the skill to break down and understand logical processes like how a copy machine works and why your copies keep coming out blank (it's because the scanning side is the big flat plane of glass with all the machinery under it and you're putting the paper in wrong). If you only teach people how to have or be given answers instead of how to find them, you end up with this.I can't blame them for not figuring out MS-Office tho, that thing has always been a mess.

@Polychrome Hot Take: The good thing about MS Office is that nobody expects you to actually be "good" at it.I.e. if you signature has another font than your E-Mail, nobody cares

@Polychrome It's nothing new at all. We've had cars for over a hundred years but how many drivers today understand how their car works let alone how to fix them? An old professor of mine had a coursework where you had to find an article that was absolutely impossible to find via Google. He always said he was dismayed more people didn't come and ask him how to find it before it was due and he revealed how simply asking him would lead you to it; which was his educational point.

@undauntedgirl that one was a bit of a mean move because usually when a professor challenges you to find something, they don't want you to just ask them for the answer :x

@Polychrome As I have always preached (to anyone switched on to listen); Rather ask a stupid question today, than remain stupid for the rest of your life.
