@stux The problem with #Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) is that we simply have no solution that can scale up to make any meaningful contribution to global #CO2 levels. Even the biggest systems we have in place today can’t even capture 5% of emissions globally and emissions are rising faster then we can ramp up CCS solutions. So I see them as a “nice to have” but nothing we can rely on to slow down #climatechange #sustainability #carboncapture

@killyourfm Thats a lot! My 2018 MacBook under full load uses the same amount of power like your idle system. And to clarify does this include the screen(s) and peripherals or just compute?

@killyourfm 😅My guess is though, the screens won’t make a big difference probably 20-50W. At least my “old” 1080p screen was using this much.

The last 24 hours have been crazy in Europes #climate policies 🤯Yesterday, France banned plane flights if the destination can be reached within 2.5h by train (which is almost all domestic flights, due to their excellent high speed train network) Meanwhile Germany launched an investigation against #LetzteGeneration (peaceful climate protesters). The charge: Organized crime (same as the Mafia) 🫠

@niclas @BarneyDellar @afilina @stanley @nick_tune I noticed something similar in the Deutsche Bahn App. Once my Train ICE 1234 got cancelled on short notice. The alternative ICE 2345 was somehow identical to my original train (same departure/arrival times, same platforms).Turns out they use train for the vehicle as well as the connection and in my case they switched vehicles 🤷♂️

As a German, I would say this feels more like harassment (unless she consented, which I guess she didn’t).Btw @mekkaokereke please acknowledged that “European culture“ is a term as loose as “North American Culture“. @stux Well, I think that’s no surprise. The ones who check daily are more likely to see and vote. Imagine 100 people who check daily vs 700 people who check weekly. If the poll is running for 24h the tally would come up 50:50 which is not representative of the larger numbers. 🤷♂️
