@futurebird @econads case study in Israel of far right government being incredibly incompetent: ignored warnings from female soldiers on the Gaza wall that Hamas was planning something pre Oct 7. They are very bad at ruling but incredibly good at maintaining power by shifting blame and hatred elsewhere for their mistakes

@futurebird @nazokiyoubinbou I can’t remember a single Obama speech. I think he benefited from comparison following w bush but overall he felt too much like a McKinsey consultant when he spoke.

@futurebird @PTR_K Trump was seeing how lack of enthusiasm for Biden among black men was one of the big reasons he was ahead in polls and saw this as a way to dampen enthusiasm with that group for Kamala. My take is it has backfired on that account but is getting traction with his core fans. Idk. Do you have better sense for the vibes of this line of attack and how it’s resonating with black folks?

@futurebird humane immigration policy was one of my biggest issues for putting aside my differences with DNC in order to get Trump out….only to watch Biden use immigration as a negotiating chip and then brag about how much better he is at implementing trumps immigration policy than Trump

@futurebird Twitter can be thought of as a series of communities. Some communities are completely dead there (eg science, cybersecurity). But others remain though they too are having different nodes starting to shrivel. At some point enough nodes will die to rip that community into decline. Anyways point is to think of it as not one huge entity but lots of entities

@futurebird Iraq war was sold through the major tv and cable networks and the major magazines (time, Newsweek). It’s been good actually to see how hard it’s been since then to sell any new wars that get 75-80% support because of how fragmented news consumption has become and the ability of anti war voices to reach millions
