Spannend zu beobachten, wie hier Leute völlig begeistert sind dass unterschiedliche Plattformen und Systeme miteinander kommunizieren können. Blogs mit Antworten als Kommentare, Videos direkt als Posting... Als Fediverse-Oldfart ist das für mich völlig normal. Ich meine, das war doch mal die Idee von vernetzten Computern oder? Scheinbar sind walled gardens als Konzept über die Jahre ganz tief in den Köpfen der Nutzer verfangen.

@matzekult Jup, geht mir genauso. Schon bei früheren Wechselwellen. Es ist halt der Prinzipunterschied "Publizieren" vs. "Kommunizieren" der - wie ich finde - ganz tief in den jeweiligen Plattformen und ihren Nutzern verankert ist.

@evan My initial thought was that single nodes would have smaller footprints. But that would only work with nodes not running Mastodon or Friendica, I guess.One interesting thing in that regard is SSB (Secure Scuttlebutt) as works off grid and does not need constantly running/connected nodes. But it comes with a price tag regarding convenience, unfortunately. But still!

@evan @mateus But still rewarding, in a way. Years ago I've been running gnusocial.de and people using it from time to time, but very constantly, thanked for the service. The even asked where to throw money to. Both is something I see people still doing on their nodes nowadays.Still, I consider it the duty of public node admins to put up a solid financial basis, a long term strategy and being transparent about it. @hoergen Guter Gedanke. Auch wenn zu Otto die Hermes Gruppe und damit weniger dolle Arbeitsbedingungen gehören. Aber der Schritt ist in die richtige Richtung.Ich nehme meistens den günstigsten oder aus anderen Gründen am besten passenden Händler aus dem Preisvergleich - was übrigens eher selten Amazon ist. Klar fehlt da die Ethik-Recherche. Aber die Chance ist automatisch schon höher einen guten zu treffen.
