@rin someone around me says a lot of restaurants use those frozen ones to cook as dishes and frozen dim sum is much cheaper, but apparently we are in different places so i don't know if that applies to you as well.

@Em0nM4stodon First of all, I choose a fedi instance that does not run on Mastodon.

@JessTheUnstill @meganL you are renting because the government does not give everyone a free house. if it does, no one will be renting.

@JessTheUnstill @meganL When I say "free house," I definitely mean one that meets a certain living standard and suit people's actual needs.

@heartshadows @Lohynochka @gnome i would advise you to not use linux at all. linux is based in the US, and recently it is happy to comply with its racist sanction orders. see https://kazv.moe/notice/AnLO2oXY4zYXwLh9Bw .

@seanking it's an argument to show "avoiding something if it operates in the US" is not a good reasoning.

@seanking i can't think of any. best i can do is to advocate for the expulsion of L. Torvalds, Greg K and other toxic people from Linux.

i really can't stand the anti-children sentiment on the internet.preventing children from accessing the internet or "social media" does not protect children.

@hj i agree it's education problem. just pointing out banning children from certain places is not the right solution, and not even the right direction. as someone who suffered from tremendous bullying and lack of support in "real life" in childhood, i cannot imagine how much harder my life would have been if i was not allowed to access the forums, irc and other online communities when i was in primary school/middle school.

any abuse or overuse of substance isn't the problem. it's but a symptom. one that is caused by another, deeper problem. trying to "treat" the symptom by restricting the use, but not touching the problem will not lead anywhere.

@Uglesett Also, if you are on Mastodon and use the Mastodon web UI, you should check whether it allows the browser to send the referer header to remote links that users click on. Just some time ago, Eugen "recommended" instance admins to change settings to allow it "to make website owners more aware of Mastodon." (This setting can only be changed by Mastodon instance admins, not by users.) In my opinion, this usually reveals more information about the user clicking on the link than any of the tracking params present in the link. For example, the targeted website will know that a user coming from a certain IP "is most likely to" have an account on a certain instance. The privacy problem will be more serious if the user clicking the link has an account on the targeted website, because the website now knows a certain logged-in user is most likely to have an account on another website. While this threat is relatively small for huge instances, users on smaller instances will be tracked more easily. Moreover, if the user lives under the rule of a government that can possibly get them into trouble for accessing the Fediverse, the referer header will sell them out to the websites (that may well give this info to that government) whose link the user clicked from the Mastodon instance. I am not aware of any other Fediverse software that encourages sending referer header to remote links or does this by default. Pleroma sets the referrer-policy to same-origin.

@davidrevoy Giant ships labelled Visa and MasterCard appear. They force everyone to leave because the performance is deemed to be "sexual content" and the mermaid ends up starving to death.
