@hj although.... it actually is.Logitech has been enshittifying their assware so much mouse has begun to lag HARD from time time, which was actually a big contributor for installing linux in the first placenever lukcy.

@jonossaseuraava i used to have some logitech mice and they worked fine on linux, but i needed to boot into windows to configure them. Nowadays the """drivers""" might work on wine. No clue about your webcam though, maybe there's a kernel module for it.

@hj the mouse even has some inbuilt memory to side step all of this IN THEORY, but the logitech assware doesn't save shit even on windowsthe camera is logitech brio 4k with windows hello support. I have a sneaking suspicion the windows hello part is the problem. Or rather it being multiple cameras in reality. Some ir blasting thing, ir cam and then regular webcam. but oh well.It did briefly work, but you gotta choose the right camera N or it gets stuck IR blasting your ass. disconnecting the camera makes linux just not recognize anymore

@jonossaseuraava the general takeaway from this is that anything too advanced and/or unusual has high chance of not working on linux, or working partially, usually because manufacturer didn't write drivers for linux. I can only hope that linux gets more adoption with microsoft's bullshit and they start writing shit for linux.

The piper gui thingy works mostly, but for some things it just errors out without telling what went wrong so i guess i gotta learn to use the cli instead. Learning cli involves actual thinking which im not fond of.

@jonossaseuraava @tusooa have you ever used a console in a quake/hl-based videogame? CLI is pretty much the same - it's easier to adapt to this paradigm shift if you just think of CLI as a "console". With that being said i suggest you use something like yakuake. I still use cli in this way all the way since 2009.

@hj @tusooa no, no, it's not fear of the cli. I've been professional linux sysadmin for a bit. believe it or not. one positive surprise too! Squad run without any tinkering and seems to run better than on windows. I hope it continues to do so in real games too. I tested it in warm up mode only.
