@anjum There might be an inkling of truth to that. I've only thrown up a few times in my life, and each time there was a chance of death, because it was always from food poisoning.

@straw I hear human is full of bone and gristle, meat full of ligament and greasy, not like in pork or beef, but like in small rodent or reptile. src: friend is a tiger

@moffintosh The problem here, unfortunately, is that people *will* share this video, and then subsequently be laughed out of the room. The laughers would point out that it would be like someone interviewing 3 "comfortable" elderly people in a post-capitalism 40 years from now on a socialist US street that respond, "Everybody says capitalism is bad. Thing is, even the poorest of the poor had nearly everything they needed and more compared to other countries."

@neglesaks The big thing for me is the form factor. I'm like Douglas Adams in that I like to take long hot baths. I like to read while taking them. With books, I can soak and be fearless.

@vriska That might also be your sinuses near the tear duct and bridge of the nose. QoL hack: you can gently press/rub there on one side with index and middle finger when your nose is plugged to slightly ease pressure or you are about to sneeze.

@moffintosh @proedie Isn't that sort of legit, though because Manjaro broke the AUR, or vice versa, or some such weirdness? I just remember somebody stepped on somebody's toes.

@begsby Makes me wonder if this is one of those shadow projects that actually do something other than what they say they intend to do. Not covert stuff. Just umbrella things like, "Well we want to (fund/spend time on) this <random thing> but what she would classify it as?" "Oh just put it under Titan."

@begsby I watched this movie on HBO Max. Throughout the entire film I couldn't shake the feeling I was listening to a constant overbearing remix of Led Zeppelin's Kashmir.

@fitheach @sohkamyung Not sure if the analogy is apt, but sort of like railroad companies owning their own sections of rail and train yards in the US? So, you can transport whatever freight you want, but we supply the rail (CDN) and the yards (servers) for a fee of our choosing and not market price (because we're a monopoly).

@simon Talking to unfiltered Bing would be essentially talking to an unfiltered compilation of viewpoints posted on the internet in the guise of viewpoints from a single entity.

@chromeratt @dave I just remember being told that Saddam Hussein was basically the devil incarnate and the people were his minions or some such thing. Too young to have an opinion.

@r000t I think the way it works nowadays is that you have to know people, like really pretend that you are one of them. A guy that worked under me years ago I tried my best to teach network engineering. He didn't learn a thing. But, he *did* make a lot of fast and loose rich friends at conferences and workshops. Now, he's a CEO of an IT outfit somewhere. He is not a smart guy. I dodged him, but he eventually found the appropriate people to circle jerk with.

@moffintosh It is fine. It is technically not legal, but no once cares if you don't really go faster than walking speed. You will, however, occasionally see people on electric scooters racing down sidewalks at 15 mph. That is not generally considered fine.

@moffintosh Work games are fun because you get to feel success without undue risk or effort. Also, you will be rewarded even if you have not been blessed with starting capital or luck, which is very unlike real life.

@racuna I read that excessive mechanical loading is not advised under adrenal stress. It turns out that hormones secreted under duress that are intended to soften the tendons and ligaments for fight or flight scenarios can lead to connective tissue injury. I don't remember the exact study, but it was about correlation between dangerous sports like rock climbing and tendon/ligament injury.

@racuna one arm pull ups with just two fingers is a very different type of strength indeed. Actually, you don't need a lot of bulk to be really strong, even though that is the most common correlation. What you really need is to have the neuromuscular pathways capable of firing efficiently so more muscle fibers are recruited at once. Isometric exercise is a great way to train for pure strength (a.k.a. farmer's strength), but it limits the application of where that strength becomes efficient.

@racuna This is funny, but also serious. Doctors should be forced to keep up to date on the latest accepted research, just like lawyers are expected to keep up to date with the bar. That said, there may actually be a good reason for your light diet that they figure is too deep of a topic for most patients. I'm not sure what I would do.

@racuna Climbing involves holding and transitioning through very difficult and awkward positions.Bulk gains from hypertrophy does mean more cross-sectional area which correlates to strength, but it is not the only determining factor. You can be bulky and not strong, because when a muscle contracts it may have not trained to recruit most of the muscle fibers at once. This requires neuromuscular fitness.
