@realcaseyrollins I'm pro-choice so I already know we disagree there, but your post is the first pro-life take I've seen that isn't just "ban all abortions, sucks if you get pregnant šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø" but it actually addresses the aftermath, and why a lot of people are concerned. I really do like that.My main concern is that there isn't enough of a safety net for the people who really need it. Unfortunately, the next point of contention tends to be who should be responsible for providing that safety net.

@realcaseyrollins But post-birth costs are substantial also. Childcare alone - I pay the same for my child's preschool as I do for my mortgage. And it's not Montessori or anything, it's a standard preschool. I'm glad I'm able to pay. My state has a program to assist with the cost of childcare for people who need it, but my state also doesn't have a trigger law. The states with trigger laws seem like the type of places who would have very limited gov safety nets.

@realcaseyrollins I love my kid to death. I wouldn't trade him for the world and I'm grateful that I'm able to provide for him. Everybody I know with kids feels the same way. But desperate people who don't have the same financial stability are looking at a lifetime of struggle. Nobody gets abortions for fun. That's where an expanded safety net (whether that's government, church, etc.) and education about this safety net would be extremely helpful. There's more to pro-life than just birth.

@selea I have been a little interested in HAM but never had a starting goal in mind, apart from ā€œget a radio and talk to peopleā€. Which isn’t really my thing šŸ™ƒ But I’ve never heard of AREDN. I think I found my project!

I don't consider myself a big country music fan as a whole, but folksier country (like Jolene-era Dolly Parton, and Waxahatchee) is really goodAnd alt-country (like Wilco, and Wussy if that counts) is really good tooAnd really, on the topic of Dolly Parton, her duet with Porter Waggoner singing "The Last Thing On My Mind" is a bangerBut bro country? Truckcore country? Nah I'll pass.

Why am I worried that the kneejerk reactions to what happened in #Nashville will end up hurting trans rights more than gun rights?

The first time I heard somebody say the manufacturer name ā€œASUSā€ out loud, they pronounced it ā€œAy-soosā€. So I kind of just figured that’s how it was pronounced. Just realized that this same guy called deadmau5 ā€œdead-mow-5ā€ unironically. And now I’m doubting myself, and I’m wondering if I’ve been ā€œthat guy saying the word wrongā€ every time ASUS comes up in conversation. And I don’t want to search for the correct pronunciation because then DuckDuckGo will know my shame 😬

@paul I didn’t think about that! It makes sense on paper but when I say it out loud it sounds off šŸ˜‚ Before I heard it out loud as ā€œAy-soosā€, my mind interpreted jt as ā€œAy-susā€, which definitely is definitely closer to Pegasus haha

Yesterday reached a high of 100 F, and overnight it never got below 80 F. So... we were melting last night without AC.Tonight it was supposed to be colder, and we were excited to be able to leave the windows open and let the cold in overnight...And then the wildfires around #Spokane started today. Now it feels SUPER nice and cool outside... but the air is full of smoke and makes your throat scratchy after just a little bit of breathing it. So another night of melting.

That being said, I'm grateful that I'm not more affected by the wildfires. I have a coworker who needed to drop from a project call today to evacuate, and that made it seem more real.
