@stux I’ve just joined and it feels safer than Twitter. I’ve already found some interesting professional people to engage with in my area of expertise.

@stux not sure what the criteria for “famous” would be and who would decide that. Either way, this wasn’t my purpose for coming to Mastodon, I’ve experienced enough celebrities to last a life time wich would fill 5 volumes of a book series.

@stux@mstdn.social @stux@masto.ai I probably haven't had time to explore this more but I'm trying to figure out how to add someone to a list from a different instance. I've been missing people's posts. Right now I have people's accounts as a bookmark in Firefox.

@stux I have to use Twitter until I can find other means to connect with those not on other platforms. Also, I tweet out messages on behalf of my clients who aren't at the stage of considering migrating elsewhere. The most important stuff I monitor, searches, I now do via a Twitter RSS feed via NetNewsWire.

@stux it will be a tough justification for medical scientists to remain on Twitter now. Their hard work and devotion to improving health and wellbeing of the world can be written off by the “hard of thinking” in an instant. It’s labour intensive to keep justifying one’s existence and hard work in Mr Musk’s vision of the world, it’s not worth the hassle being on that platform.

@stux I wouldn’t want to pass my government ID to companies run by multi billionaires who have dodgy reputations. Free service: bombarded with bots and pervy ads. Pay service: bombarded with bots and pervy ads. Hmmmm….!

@stux This is based on what I have seen. Looking through the polls I see that about 8-16% of Taiwanese people want “reunification”. That figure has decreased since 2020. I’ve seen a lot of Taiwanese actors in Chinese film and tv shows, it’s where the big money is.

@stux This interview pretty much hit many of the things I experienced.1. Homophobia. 2. Racism. 3. Awful awful immigration officers ie ICE. 4. Health insurance and pharma rip-offs. 5. Depressing politics; I ran a non-profit and most politicians on both sides do not have an open mind or want to listen. 6. Food overloaded with sugar or salt. 7. Money comes before people. I was so relieved to leave and I never want to go back.

@stux As I found out living there money is more important than people. The private health care and insurance companies own the politicians, just like the gun lobby. I saw a nurse break down in tears in Denver when she couldn’t treat a patient as they couldn’t afford it. When I had my blood pressure taken once they provided 5 nurses to do it…to make more money. They charged me $28+tax courier fee for taking my blood test results up one floor in the same building.
