@sehnsucht How do you like OpenIndiana? I'm content with OpenBSD, but my first Unix was SunOS on SPARC, so I'm glad to see that legacy live on.

@sehnsucht Thanks. I'll keep that in mind if OpenBSD ever goes corporate the way Linux has. :)

I've been working toward a more old-school desktop using mostly stuff that comes with #OpenBSD. Exceptions include rxvt-unicode instead of xterm, GNU Emacs instead of vi or mg, and htop instead of top.But instead of having a taskbar or conky just to get a clock, I just have xclock sitting in a corner.#ShowYourDesktop

@anthk Thanks. I'll take a look at those on my lunch break. I mainly used htop because of the colors, so if I can take better advantage of existing tools I'll be happy to drop htop.

@charlag I think we should call this style "capitalist essentialism". The individual is both paramount and de-emphasized and interchangeable, and the artist only provides the minimum required detail to convey their intended meaning.

I know this is pathetic, but I finally figured out how to get Alpine working. That's one more GUI app replaced with a CLI app.#SmallVictories

Who needs vim or neovim? If I didn't need UTF-8 support, OpenBSD vi (Keith Bostic's nvi) would be fine.Instead, since I use characters outside US ASCII, I use nvi2 (nvi in ports). :)

Breaking out of grayscale, and using the Eighties Dark color scheme in Xresources. For those of you who like the #Fixed font family that comes with #X11: what's the appeal? It looks OK to me on my laptop, but on bigger screens the main appeal seems to be that I can have more terminals visible at the same time. Is that all there is to it?

@popefucker Not to mention an operating system whose design we still use today.
