@stefano Sorry to hear that your dad's co-op is like that. I'm in a bit of a conundrum, because I'm not exactly in the "we don't need management" camp, but how do we just get back to postwar levels of executive compensation?

@futurebird There are better answers on this thread for why to pick one definition or another, but as for how to neatly state the definition which includes two and excludes one: "a prime is a natural number which has exactly two distinct factors"

@futurebird @alexwild Agree this is a lousy situation. I'll offer a slightly optimistic and perhaps even polyanish reaction: what do we need to build which routes around this? I'm not sure what it is either, except that the Fediverse (most of what I've seen so far anyway) appears to be some flavor of step in the right direction.

@futurebird I'm voting for Io. It is all those volcanoes (and colors, which I think are vivid even if you aren't looking at an enhanced color image, as I understand it).

@EdS @stecks @alisonkiddle @ColinTheMathmo @benjamindickman It was delightfully written. I especially liked the quadruple negative: did everyone catch that?

@netblocks Mobile phone service is intact at least for my coworker there. But a lot of the city is without power and I guess isn't expected to be back until later tonight.

@futurebird Those who know more mathematics than me assure me that continuity is indeed very rich. This has been especially true as I've learned about topology and #constructiveMathematics (both of which feature continuity in a central way).

@publiclewdness @postmarketOS @osuosl @alpinelinux @chimera @debian @fdroidorg @gentoo @gnome @LineageOS @torproject Depends on a lot of things including whether it is an encumbered figure (including items other than salary) and what the duties are (if the idea is to compare with similar positions elsewhere), but off the top of my head, doesn't seem surprisingly high.

@jeridansky @cascadepbs @BakerRL75 @leapingwoman @wendinoakland Some of the organizing of REI members to vote with the union was done right here on Mastodon (I'm sure lots of other places too but I heard about it right here from @Eliot_L and then voted according).

@LaurensHof You'd know better than I what people in general are thinking about. But the number one question in my mind is what happens when/if Bluesky PBC is no longer able to run infrastructure on the scale they are now (presumably, in the scenario that revenue does not materialize).

@bortzmeyer @tarakiyee @servo So Gemini aims to be gopher for the 21st century? I have no idea whether I'd end up using this but it definitely intrigues me.

@openbsdjournal Wow, that's bold. None of the servers I use my Yubikey with would accept FIDO as an alternative, as far as I know.

@SuperDicq @js I think you (and the blog post) may be getting at why I find it so refreshing to use software from F-Droid and desktop Linux repositories.

@kfogel I'm just searching around the Internet so I doubt anything I find will be better for you, aesthetically, than what you have already tried. But what the heck:* a comment at https://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/85805/xelatex-and-10x20-font suggests FreeMono which I didn't see on your lists (at least not by that name)* I'm leaving out all the results for 10 foot by 20 foot storage units and for Wayland, Michigan

@Waterfox OK, I spent some time in Waterfox and Mozilla documentation and didn't find an answer: does Waterfox support the "file" URI scheme (as specified in RFC8089 and its predecessors)? If there is a setting to enable it I didn't find it, but if it has been removed I didn't find a statement to that effect either. (It didn't seem to be enabled by default, I just got an error).

@Waterfox Platform is Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS. Waterfox was... installed from the Pop!_Shop maybe? Let me try uninstalling and reinstalling before I take more of your time. Just knowing file URLs are supposed to work is quite helpful.

@Waterfox OK, I uninstalled in Pop!_Shop and reinstalled using "flatpak install flathub net.waterfox.waterfox" as suggested at https://www.waterfox.com/support/install-waterfox-linux/ . Now if I navigate to file:///home/jkingdon/work/set.mm/mmil.html (a URL which works in firefox) the error is "File not foundWaterfox can’t find the file at /home/jkingdon/work/set.mm/mmil.html."
