Then a day or so ago, my husband idly asked why there are 'Butterfly Fairies' and 'Flower Fairies', but how come no 'Moth Fairies', then I logged into Mastodon and this was the first thing I saw!

@GeofCox @ndc @trabern Agree, Snopes is being pedantic here. Actually corporations *are* run like dictatorships internally, So the fact that ceos are silently aligning like human weathervanes pointing towards the flow of money is business de riguer.

@pluralistic The bit about how money is sort of zero-sum but growth stocks are the hotness that everyone wants was very insightful for me. This explains the 'growth at any cost' mentality that defines US corporate thinking.

Just got back from our vacation in Vancouver. For which, I spent, I must say, numerous hours making a thorough cleansing of my phone and computer of all traces of social media and/or potentially personally incriminating info in light of the current fascist turn of our government... And though I was keenly aware of news reports of intense customs scrutiny at the Canadian border, we managed to squeak though without issue. Clearly 'Murphy's Lever' at work, a phrase I will explain if you ask...

I wish to say that Canada is still a blessedly pleasant place. The sky there is somehow clearer and more blue. The sun is somehow brighter and the people are peaceful, friendly and kind. Vancouver Canada's overall vibe is lighter, more relaxed, soothing even, than ours. Crossing the border either way is a study in stark contrasts. Admittedly Vancouver Island is more of a tourist attraction, than say, Port Angeles is. But you cannot help but notice the vibe shift between America and Canada.

So, if you happened to notice how quiet I've been over the last week, it's because I did not have access to Mastodon.. on purpose. I created a whole new alt identify for my phone and computer. An identity which has no access to any of my usual social media fixations.. It was a dopamine cleanse, to be sure, but I did engage in some old school dopamine of the 20 years ago type as it seems they turn the cellular network off on weekends.

It occurs to me that you can make chutney out of literally any fruit. In the past I've made it out of mango, salal berry, blueberry and huckleberry. Today I made three different ones: pineapple, apricot and grape. The grape, which was concord grape, turned out a bit to acidic somehow, not sure about it. Apricot is excellent. Pineapple chutney is highly recommended. It's a winner.
